Wet welding repair techniques are becoming increasingly viable in terms of cost and efficiency and as accepted means of producing high quality underwater repairs to steel structures. TWI are experts in their fields have combined their experience and have devised a training course which will meet industry’s high standards and requirements. 

The 2005 programme begins in February, at TWI’s Centre for Underwater Technology and Training. It will deliver a training package specifically tailored for professional divers who wish to further their experience in MMA wet welding techniques and which will lead to an AWS D3.6 class B welder approval coding. 

Course objectives:

The course objective is to train delegates to AWS  D3.6 Class B, coding on completion   of the course. 

Who should attend? 

All technicians working in the extraction of petroleum, factories and refineries. 

Course Outline: 

  • Theoretical Instruction
  • Weld Terminology, Weld Design, Weld Defects and applications
  • Dry Practical exercises including:- Bead on plate and Fillet welds.
  • Comprehensive tuition on underwater wet welding techniques and practical exercises.
  • Welding test to AWS D3.6 Class B coding 

WORKSHOP STYLE: 

A mixture of short presentations, interactive discussion, individual exercises and group work. The emphasis throughout is on a practical approach using case material and examples.
